Viewing workspace dependencies

This reference outlines how to access and view the dependencies of your workspace or workspace group.

Introduction

A workspace (or workspace group) dependency is an object that is associated with the workspace, such as a dashboard or a chart event. The dependencies page lists how many objects are associated with your selected workspace or workspace group.

The list of dependencies displayed differs depending on if you are viewing a workspace or a workspace group.

To delete a workspace or workspace group, all dependencies must be transferred away from the workspace or workspace group to be deleted.

Accessing the Dependencies page

To access the Dependencies page, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Enter workspace administration.

  3. In the left navigation panel, click Dependencies.

Viewing workspace group dependencies

The dependencies page for a workspace group displays information specific to the selected workspace group, such as the number of dashboards contained in the workspaces within the workspace group. The information is displayed in a table with the following rows:

Workspace Group

This displays the ID and name of the workspace group in the format Workspace{id=123, name=NAME OF WORKSPACE GROUP}.

If you are viewing the root workspace group, this field is called Root Workspace and displays the ID and name of the root workspace group in the same format.

Parent of

This is the number of child workspace groups and workspaces that belong to the workspace group.

Dashboards

This is the number of dashboards contained in the workspaces that belong to the selected workspace group.

Chart Events

This is the number of chart events available in the workspaces that belong to the selected workspace group.

Segments

This displays the IDs and names of the workspace groups to which the workspace belongs. The parent workspace group directly above the workspace is displayed first. If the workspace group belongs to another workspace group, the ID and name of this parent workspace group is displayed next.

For example, in the following workspace hierarchy:

  • Parent workspace group (belongs to the root workspace group and has ID 456)

  • Child workspace group (belongs to parent workspace group and has ID 123)

  • workspace (belongs to child workspace group)

In this example, the Path to root workspace would display {123=Child Workspace Group, 456=Parent Workspace Group}.

This field is not displayed if you are viewing the dependencies for the root workspace group.
