Managing data imported to Explore & Present

This reference article explains how to manage data imported to Explore & Present.

Getting an overview of data sources

To get an overview of data sources that transfer their data to your Explore & Present workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click Datasources.

As a result, you see a list of data sources and when they transferred data to Explore & Present. Only the last 10 days are displayed, with a green dot indicating the day a data transfer took place.

Getting an overview of data imported to Explore & Present

You can import data to Explore & Present from the following sources:

  • datastreams from Adverity. This includes files and media plans transferred to Explore & Present from datastreams.

  • Files manually uploaded to Explore & Present.

  • Media plans manually uploaded to Explore & Present. For more information, see Manually uploading a media plan to Explore & Present.

Manually uploading a file or a media plan to Explore & Present is a method with many limitations. Adverity recommends importing data to Explore & Present through datastreams.

To get an overview of data imported to Explore & Present, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click Data Imports. As a result, you see the list of data imports in Explore & Present.

  5. (Optional) To filter the list, click Uploaded Files in the top right of the screen, and then click the source of the data import.

  6. To get information about a specific data import, find it in the list, and then click Show details on the right.

Deleting data imported to Explore & Present

To delete a specific data import in Explore & Present, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click Data Imports.

  5. Find the data import in the list, and then click Show details on the right.

  6. Click Delete.

  7. Click Delete Data Import.

Getting an overview of datastreams transferring data to Explore & Present

To get an overview of datastreams that transfer their data to your Explore & Present workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click DataTap Endpoints.

As a result, you see the list of datastreams that transfer data to Explore & Present.

Configuring datastreams transferring data to Explore & Present

To configure a datastream that transfers data to your Explore & Present workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click DataTap Endpoints.

  5. Find the datastream in the list, and then click Edit on the right.

  6. In Overwrite (delete and insert), select the following options to configure how Adverity overwrites data in Explore & Present:

    • In the on matched dimension values field, select the dimensions to overwrite data in Explore & Present if the values of the selected dimensions in the existing data and the new data match.

    • Select on same file name to overwrite data in Explore & Present if the field names in the existing data and the new data match.

    • Select on matched date range to overwrite data in Explore & Present if the date ranges in the existing data and the new data match.

    • Select within same datastream so that each datastream can only overwrite its previously transferred data in Explore & Present.

  7. In the fields below, view the rules applied in the Explore & Present workspace, and any connected media plans. For more information on rules, see Creating and applying tag rules. For more information on media plans, see Using the Plan page.

  8. Select Execute Mediaplan Rules First to apply the media plan rules before the other rules.

  9. Click Update.

Deleting data from a datastream in Explore & Present

To delete data from a datastream in Explore & Present, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click DataTap Endpoints.

  5. Find the datastream in the list, and then click Edit on the right.

  6. Choose one of the following:

    • To delete the data transferred from the datastream and also the datastream itself, click Delete Adverity Endpoint and Data Imports. Use this option only if you do not plan to import data from this datastream anymore.

    • To delete the data transferred from the datastream, click Delete Data Imports. Use this option to delete only the transferred data, and if you plan to import data from this datastream in the future.

    • To delete data from the datastream for a specific date range, click Delete Data Imports Range, specify the date range, and then click Delete Range.

Getting an overview of media plans in Explore & Present

To get an overview of media plans connected to your Explore & Present workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click Mediaplans.

As a result, you see a list of media plans connected to Explore & Present. For more information on media plans, see Using the Plan page.

Manually uploading a media plan to Explore & Present

To manually upload a media plan to Explore & Present, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click Mediaplans.

  5. Click Upload Mediaplan.

  6. Click + Select file...

  7. Select the media plan file to upload.

Transferring data from external databases to Explore & Present

By default, data is transferred to Explore & Present from Adverity. To transfer data to Explore & Present from external databases, use custom connections.

The following databases are supported:

To set up custom connections in your Explore & Present workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the platform navigation menu, click Explore.

  2. Select the workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  3. Enter workspace administration.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click Custom Connections.

  5. Click + Add a Custom Connection.

  6. Fill in the following fields:

    Name

    Provide a name for the custom connection.

    Type

    Select the database type.

    Connection String

    The URL of the database from which to transfer data to Explore & Present.

    Username

    The username to connect to the database.

    Password

    The password to connect to the database.

    Database

    The name of the database from which to transfer data to Explore & Present.

    Table Name

    The name of the table from which to transfer data to Explore & Present.

    Scheduled Refresh

    The frequency at which Adverity collects data from the database, specified in the CRON format.

    Column Mapping

    Map the columns from the database to the columns in Adverity. This mapping is similar to Data Mapping in Adverity. For more information, see Harmonizing data.

    Specify the mappings in JSON format. For example:

  7. Click Validate to verify the custom connection configuration.

  8. Click + Create.

As a result, the custom connection is set up and you can transfer data to Explore & Present.
